At Jefferson, a
sophisticated Reconstructive team is available
to restore appearance and function after cancer
surgery. Most recently, Dr. Pribitkin and Dr.
Marc Rosen have joined in performing facelift
surgery at the same time as surgery to remove
benign parotid tumors. As Dr. Pribitkin says,
"We listened to patient concerns about
their appearance following parotid tumor
surgery. Now, instead of a depression where a
parotid tumor had been present, patients awaken
with a rejuvenated facial appearance. At
Jefferson, listening and understanding catalyze
innovations in healing." Dr. Pribitkin also
works closely with the MOHS dermatologic surgeons
Dr. Tanya Humphreys & Dr. Steven Greenbaum to remove facial cancers
while minimizing their effects on facial
appearance.
Most people are
self-conscious about facial scars, especially if
these scars also interfere with the proper
functioning of their eyes, nose, face, or mouth.
Each scar is unique and requires careful
attention and treatment. Dr. Pribitkin has long
been fascinated with the mechanisms of wound
healing and scar formation. He has published on
the use of interferon in the treatment of
keloids and is now exploring the use of particle
beam resurfacing in the treatment of raised
scars.
